Life Management

Over at our family blog this week I'm writing about a complete overhaul our household is going through: revamping the cleaning schedule, organizing living spaces, managing time better, and even adjusting our homeschool routine. Big changes and little changes- all for the goal of better life management.

Elizabeth George is one of my favorite authors and I pulled a couple of her books of the shelf for ideas and inspiration for the "Great Peoples Family Overhaul of '09!" The following is a quote from Life Management for Busy Women:

A Prayer for Living Out God's Plan

  1. Pray over your priorities- "Lord, what is Your will for me at this time in my life?"
  2. Plan through your priorities- "Lord, what must I do today to accomplish Your will?"
  3. Prepare a schedule based on your priorities- "Lord, when should I do the things that live out these priorities today?"
  4. Proceed to implement your priorities- "Lord, thank You for giving me Your direction for my day."
  5. Purpose to check your progress- "Lord, I only have a limited time left in my day. What important tasks do I need to focus on for the remainder of the day?"
  6. Prepare for tomorrow- "Lord, how can I better live out Your plan for my life tomorrow?"
  7. Praise God at the end of the day- "Lord, thank You for a meaningful day, for 'a day well spent,' for I have offered my life and this day to You as a 'living sacrifice.'"
What a difference it would make in my day if I took time to pray over my priorities in this way!

How do you keep your priorities in the proper order?

Sandra, I too am a huge Elizabeth George fan. In fact, I have used her book on Titus 2:3 - 5 for mentoring women for the past six years or so. I love "Life Management for Busy Women" ... find myself running to it often.

Praying for you as you seek to reorganize and restructure in your home.
