I very rarely hear my first name anymore. I turn my head more often to respond to calls for "Mommy." As my life and priorities have changed, it seems so has my name!
For my writing project, I've been studying the lives of fifteen women from the Bible. Most of the fifteen are better known for their children's accomplishments than their own. It's humbling and challenging to see how these women raised their children to follow God's plan for their lives and be used by Him. My children will be able to make more of an impact than I could alone.
This week Sono Harris passed away after a battle with cancer. Even though you may not know her name, you probably know some of her children- Joshua Harris (author and pastor) and Alex and Brett Harris (authors and leaders of the Rebelution). Many who knew Mrs. Harris are honoring her by writing about her life. From what I've read, her biggest accomplishments were as a mom and wife. Her support, love, encouragement and instruction empowered her children to be world changers.
Her life and legacy are an encouragement to those of us who answer to "Mom." Just like Jochobed, Elizabeth, Eunice & Lois and Sono Harris, we can prioritize our roles as mothers and pray that God will use us and our children to bring glory to Him!
