Proverbs 18:22, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord."
My husband, a pastor, has had a more stressful week than usual. Long counseling sessions, staff evaluations, a medical situation with his dad (who is over six hours away), big changes happening to our Sunday worship service schedule, volunteer recruiting... you know what kind of week I'm talking about. They happen in every profession.
So I tried extra hard to make home stress-less. Meals ready when he was ready to eat (even if that was 9:00 at night). Things picked up around the house. Laundry done and put away. Small things that I hoped would make our home peaceful and calm. It's one of my favorite things about being a wife. Only I can minister to him in these important and practical ways. That's why I believe Scripture says in Proverbs that a wife is a good thing in 18:22; and in Proverbs 31:12 it says about the excellent wife, "she does [her husband] good."
How do you do your husband good? What practical ways do you show him love? How do you make your home less stressful? Let's learn from each other today!

My grandmother gave me very wise counsel when I married my pastor-husband, "Other people can do most anything needs doing at the church but you can do what needs doing at home." I try to live by that!
I *heart* Teri Lynne's Grandmother's advice!
Even after 16 years of marriage, I'm still learning what makes him happy (so that I can do him good).
Not only does he like a picked up home in the evening, but he requested a pitcher of sweet tea for his enjoyment when he gets home.
Who woulda thunk a pitcher of tea would make my man feel loved!?
His laundry easily accessible also wins me points. :)
This is so true that it is often the "little" practical things (and also the self-sacrificial, his-needs-first things) that can breathe life into our men!
A closet full of nicely ironed shirts, a packed lunch, and keeping up with the paperwork on the desk means a lot to NP! :)
I try to make sure that the house is picked up when he gets home, that he has a fresh pitcher of sweet tea, and dinner is planned and hopefully started.
I didn't used to do these things and they really make such a difference. He is much happier, the house is much calmer, and he knows that I'm thinking about him while he's gone.
It is amazing what a difference these things make to our husbands! I have noticed such a difference when I take the time to take care of the house. When I get overwhelmed with other tasks and don't take care of things at home, it has such an effect on his stress level. Thanks for sharing these thoughts today!
Sounds like you spent your time well, Sandra, and your husband was blessed. So simple and yet so significant to remember that Eve was made to be Adam's helper.
The busier Jeff is, the more I find I have to free myself to help off load his stress.
Great reminder!
